Copyright is a law that lets people keep their art work safe from other people. If your work is copyright other people cant use it with out your permission. If they do use it without your permission they can only use a small piece of it. If you want to you can get a license from creative commons so some of your artwork can be used by other people.
Copyright is important because if you didn’t have it people could buy your work and copy it as much as they want and sell it on the street. if they did that you wouldn’t make any money and the person selling it on the street will make a lot of money a Copyright is a law that lets people keep their art work safe from other people. If there was no copy right laws artists wouldn’t be able to make a living of their art.
When a piece of art is out of copyright it goes in the public domain. if its in the public domain it is free for anyone to copy and sell. But if its in the public domain it is probably a really old piece of work and you wont be able to sell it easily.
There is something called fair use. fair use is when you can use a little bit of someones art work for certain reasons. Reasons like making a comment about a movie. Copying a chapter of a book.
